This Cosmobisa is made from microscopic sand particles that are lightly attached to pebbles excavated from several hundred meters underground near Sagami Bay—where three tectonic plates intersect beneath Japan. These sand particles are sintered at high temperatures to form functional ceramics.

The soil from which these pebbles are excavated contains a high concentration of unique minerals not found in other regions. Originally, pebbles were washed before shipment, and the team worked on how to treat the muddy water used for cleaning—due to environmental concerns. Upon analyzing the wastewater, they discovered it emitted an extraordinarily high level of far-infrared radiation.

Thus, they named this material 「Cosmobisa」—micro-sand from the cosmos.
